Tom received a BA degree in Psychology and Philosophy from the University of Vermont and a Ph.D. from Yale University in biochemical Pharmacology in record time. After twenty-three years of pharmaceutical research at Burroughs Wellcome and two years at the merged Glaxo-Wellcome company, Tom retired in 1997 as International Vice President of Cancer Research and started Spector Consulting Services.

Tom began meditating in 1968 and started teaching meditation in 1976 (see FAQ). He teaches classes and workshops to a wide variety of groups and organizations. Tom also provides personal counseling to individuals.

Tom and his wife Jo-Anna co-lead meditation and yoga retreats.
They would love to design a special program that meets your needs.

In addition to a daily practice of meditation and yoga, Tom enjoys vigorous outdoor sports and nature walks. He also visits cancer patients as a volunteer with the Cancer Patient Support Program at Duke University Hospital.
