Tom's
three most popular healing talks include:
‘Our Two Gardens’ - a practical approach
to move through our personal issues that are between our superficial
self and our inner Self. Very normal events from our emotions, environment,
senses, behavior, and intellect plant weed seeds in our minds. If we
react to these events in unhealthy ways, we can turn these seeds into
weeds, such as anxiety, anger, worry, stress, depression, guilt, etc.
that cause us to suffer. The talk covers healthy ways to deal with these
issues and how to experience the beautiful flowers of our Heart Center.
(This talk is available on Tom's CD)
'Inner Peace’- this talk that deals with unhealthy
value judgments and our inner enemies. Many of us frequently make value
judgments that do not serve us. Instead, they limit ours and others
value and cause us to suffer. When we learn to suspend these judgments,
we are more able to fully experience and enjoy our life as it happens.
In addition, we often treat our illnesses, less-than-desirable body
parts, and difficult situations as if they were our enemies. However,
as we learn to receive the gifts and lessons from these ‘enemies’,
we discover that they really are our friends. When we suspend our unhealthy
value judgments, and loose the concept of internal enemies, we enter
the world of inner peace.
‘Working with Seriously Ill
People’ - a guide to what doesn’t work and what
does work when visiting sick people. Many well-intended approaches to
people dealing with serious illnesses actually cause discomfort and
devaluation. For example, the statement, ‘Don’t be silly.
Of course you are going to get better’, could be offsetting to
a patient who knows it is not true. Techniques for not bringing our
personal needs into the room and for being with a patient in total compassion
without sadness will be presented. In addition, approaches that patients
have found helpful for dealing with their situation are also presented.
The process is enriching for the patient as well as the visitor.
